I'm kinda surprised by this book. One it has a massive cliffhanger and I hate those, but for some reason I'm not so upset about it. It's almost like there was so much suspense and drama in this book, I almost expected it.

There were a few little things I got irritated with while reading. I think essa repeated how hot Farren was way too often. It seemed like every time I turned a page or two she was reiterating how hot he was. I felt like maybe that was a little overused. Other than that I have no real issues with the storyline, plot or characters. We get to see essa grow up in a sense in this book. She starts as mousy and naive but grows into someone who isn't afraid to ask questions and does what she wants. So her development through the story is nice. I would love to see her naturalness with a firearm to be used in the second book somehow. I would love for her to be the one kicking ass, even just once. It would be a true topper for her character; she would totally go from one end of the spectrum to the next. I also love that we got to see Farren open up a little. He's not just the secluded brooding type anymore; he lets her in little by little. And I love we get to see his bad side. But I do want to know the bad things he's done, why he thinks he's a bad guy. I want more info on Farren, much like Essa.

I think SR Grey did a good job with this book and story line. It's a heavy one. SR did good by not delving too deep into what Haven experienced, that would've made this much much darker. And while we get to hear it, we don't experience it. I think that would've taken away from and outweighed the camaraderie and funny and good times between Essa and Farren. And don't worry, there's plenty of sexy time and even a curve ball or two thrown our way.

WOW! I'm not quite sure what I can say about this book. It took me up, down, left, spun me around and kept going. There were surprises and unexpected twists at every turn. Knowing that this was part of a series, I waited a bit to read it; in the hopes that if I liked it, I wouldn't have to wait so long for the next part. Well, I should've just bit the bullet and read it when it was released.

The books opens with Essa trying to be a rebel, it doesn't really work for her. Shortly thereafter, we meet her best friend and roommate Haven. Haven talks Essa into a night out to celebrate the end of the semester. Well, lets just say the night out ended very poorly and set off a chain of events that set up the rest of the novel.

Essa doesn't know what to do or who to turn to for help figuring out the mess she finds herself in. So when Farren, Haven's older brother shows up unannounced, things really take off. Essa decides that she is going to help him track his sister down. It doesn't hurt that she plays the safer with you than alone card. Farren served in the military; oh and Essa has a secret crush on him. As they make their way to where Haven is, with the help of Rick, a buddy of his, a special connection blossoms. While they're in the midst of all of the unknown, they're grounded by each other.

Both Farren and Essa grew a lot in the short span this book covered. Essa was able to stand up for herself in a way she hadn't been able to before. Farren, was able to let his guard down and let someone in. Their love story maybe unconventional but it is perfectly them. I loved how they could just be with the other. And when they finally get together, perfection. Farren is sweet and dominating at the same time. Just when things are looking on the up and up for everyone involved, there it is...a cliffhanger. Now I can't wait to see what happens!
This story is intriguing. The characters are fascinating. The story line is compelling. Essa is in college. she has one more year to go. She is not studying what she wants not her Parents seem to have her life planned out for her. Essa and her best friend Haven decide to celebrate the end to another year by going out to a bar near their apartment. They end up getting very drunk, and meet two very well dressed men. Essa and Haven let the Men take them home. Essa is so drunk she lets her guy give her what she thinks is an asprin. Only the next day she wakes up real late and finds Haven gone. It dawns on Essa that the pill did not taste like an asprin so she knows she had been drugged. Essa knows Haven has been kidnapped but the cops do not believe her. Essa tries to get a hold of Havens brother Farren who Essa has had a crush on for years but his phone says its been disconnected. So she goes looking for clues her self. When she gets back to the apartment she discovers someone in Havens room as it turns out it is Farren. Farren used to be special ops and knows of Havens kidnapping. He is about to leave to search for Haven when Essa talks him into taking her along. This seems to be the detour in Essa's Destiny she has been looking for. As Essa and Farren travel to find Haven they grow closer. This book has amazing spine-tingling suspense, action, and steamy hot romance!. You will so love this book!
